Swindon Chinese Community (SCC) is a voluntary community organisation. SCC keeps its commitment to a policy of equal opportunity in employment, admissions, and in its teaching and learning activities. It will endeavour to ensure that no applicant for employment or study is disadvantaged or discriminated against unlawfully, and that all are treated on the basis of their relevant merits and abilities.

The formulation of an Equal Opportunities policy is only a starting point in the pursuit of genuine equal opportunities and, in order to achieve an environment which is free from unlawful discrimination, and which encourages everyone to contribute fully to the work of the organisation, SCC will aim to:

  • Promote good relations between people of different racial groups, between women and men and between disabled and non-disabled people;

  • Eliminate discrimination on grounds of race, sex, disability, and all other grounds set out in the statement on equal opportunities;

  • Ensure that personnel procedures reflect the policy and provide fair opportunities in recruitment, training, development and responsibilities for all members;

  • Keep under review its structures and practices for the delivery of courses/events/activities, in order to ensure the equality of opportunity in budgeting and distribution of grants;

  • Review its policies giving guidance on behaviour and its procedure for complaining about behaviour that contravenes the equal opportunity policy;

  • Devise procedures to monitor the implementation of the policy and identify possible areas for action;

  • Take positive action wherever possible to support this policy and its aims;

  • Ensure that all members are aware of the policy.

If any member of SCC has a complaint, he/she should speak to a member of the management committee. If he/she is not satisfied with the response, he/she should write to the chairperson. If the complaint is against the chairperson, he/she should write to
